More Shells than you could shake a stick at

I mentioned the other day how much stuff gets washed up onto the beach. Something that you can’t take a step without standing on are shells. All sorts of shells of all shapes and sizes. A while ago, Helen collected some and arranged them in a pattern and I took pictures of them. I posted one of these a while ago, and the two pictures you see here are from the same session (and they get bigger if you click on them). At some point we’ll repeat the exercise with a larger pattern.

Of the shells you can see in the pictures, they are mostly scallops and cockles, with a few augers and tulips too.

I particulary like the first one with the couple in the background!

Thanks, spicey. I'm rather fond of that one too. It would have been better if I'd got the horizon flat, but I was having to hold the camera down on the sand, and I couldn't see the image I was getting at all.

I could tell from the perspective that you must have been in another difficult position. The horizon looks fine to me!

I really suffer for my art. On 3 occasions now I've got my wellies full of water standing in the sea to take pictures, when an unexpectedly large wave took me by surprise. One bad trip too as I concentrated on looking into my camera rather than where I was going.

Whoops :-)

I got wet feet on that pipe too :-)

It's difficult to look at the waves and the camera at the same time.

We have loads on Bournemouth beach as well...you're making me feel nostalgic for the sea, Tom...the weather here is ghastly so no sea trips this weekend, alas...big hugs...

I've never been to Bournmouth. Maybe one day!

Ah, you should try to make it down here...some beautiful stretches of countryside and shore line down here...hope you do one day...big hugs...

Lol i can see you now lying in the sand! Great pics again!

I like the largeness of the shells and the smallness of the human figures! Kinda amazing!

Thanks, eddie. I was rather pleased with the big shells and small people :-)

There was a real risk of getting sand in my camera too.

Tom.
