It’s on their knees those chimpanzees

There is something pleasing about eating dinner at the table. It feels sociable. But this week, Helen is in Scotland on holiday, so I have mostly not bothered and eaten from a plate on my knees whilst watching a film (Scarface with Al Pacino most recently). As I was doing so last night, I was immensely distracted from the film by the view I had through the window. The sun and clouds were shifting surprisingly rapidly and producing the most lovely changing patterns in the sky.

Luckily I had my camera to hand, so I took the above picture from the sofa, through the window,  without having to interrupt my degustation. It’s too dark a picture as a result of being taken of the outside from the inside, but I hope it gives the feel of what I was seeing.. It gets bigger if you click on it.

Cheers, Tom.

Nice sky! That would have been worth going outside to take a few pictures. If you have something like Photoshop Elements (often free with digital cameras) or Paint Shop Pro (quite cheap) you can adjust the picture to compensate for the darkness.

I have many pictures of similar skies, and I am getting a bit blase about them which is something I mustn't allow to continue.

Unfortunately, I have no photo software.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Cheers, Tom.

I love eating at a table but the flat I rent is so small that I can't have a table.

I am quite good at a tray on my knee now but I always feel really slobby afterwards!!!!

I dream of having a dining room or a kitchen big enough for a table.......

What a sky..... it was mad here yesterday, bright blue sky with some amazing black clouds.

I should find my small camera again......

I went to the beach and smelt the brine last night and I loved it. :-)

I've lived in tiny flats too, so I know just how you feel!

The skies here are a continual and continuing surprise and delight for me. Slightly different every single day.

I love the smell of the sea. I walked the dogs earler and there was a strong wind blowing off the sea and I really do love it. It's SO different to when the wind comes from off the land.

Yes eating at the table is much more satifying isn't it? You are nourishing much more than just your body I think.

I agree, the skies are a constant source of wonder for me. Today I noticed that I could see a rain shower in the distance but quite close - like light shining down on the earth from a whole in the clouds.

I love that, when you can see a rain shower approaching. We get that fairly frequently here since the views across the sea are uninterrupted. As a result we get lots of rainbows at the back too.

I guessed you meant "hole" :-)
