Up At The Crack Of Dawn

by SeasideMan @ 19/06/08 - 11:27:57

For some hellish reason, I was wide awake at 4AM this morning, so I got up and took Dan for a long walk on the beach. I was amazed to see the moon in such a good position for a photograph:

walk1

We walked along the beach away from the headland and the moon into this view:

walk2

We came off the beach just as the first signs of the sun poking it’s nose out became visible:

walk3

And finally he showed himself, seen here framed by the railway power lines:

walk4

A few minutes later, this view back towards town appeared:

walk5

And this is the view down the railway line, the rust of which is glowing nicely in the sun:

walk6

And this is my charming companion, Dan, who is also glowing nicely in the sun:

walk7

All the pictures get bigger if you click on them.

Cheers, Tom.

hard to choose between the picture of the moon and of dan ...

I think that's the best picture I've ever taken of Dan. The light was just perfect for bringing out the colours in his coat and for once he was sitting still looking at me - he was tired after 2 hours running round!

It's the Dan picture for me.

Cheers, Tom.

Thanks, I'll go tell Dan what you said - he'll be most pleased :-)

That's the best picture of him I've managed to take yet, although if you scn back down my blog, you'll see a couple of pictures of him leaping into the air after a ball that are quite nice.

Do you live close to the sea yourself?

Cheers, Tom.

Tell Dan he is cute! And I cannot wait to see other pics of his.

I live about 5 blocks! I live on the four floor but who lives on the six floor or higher can see the sea!

I love the sea and collect shells!

I cannot live without the sea!
Cheers, Sandra :)

I also collect shells, and white stones as well.

If only you lived one floor higher!

I also love stones! Yes, I didn't know about it.

I collect stamps. I only take the shells that don't have dwellers in it (only empty). There was a time when I took a beautiful shell and when I looked to see the shell again I saw black nails moving outside. So, I came back and took it to the sea again.

after a screammmmmmmmmmmm.... LOL

That's good, it's important for ecological reasons that living shells aren't taken. I'm careful about that too!

Dan is sleeping under my desk right now, as I type this!

Lovely photos...beautiful tones and like the dog...HLOL...great big hugs..

Thanks, Jen. Everyone seems to like Dan! This clip is why we called him Dan:

Oh, sorry, I absolutely loathe Alan Partridge...Steve Cougan is definitely not one of my favourite comics...our son loves him, but he belongs to what I call the modern cruel humorists...don't like humour that makes me squirm with embarrassment...LOL...great big hugs..

I'm not a huge Partridge fan either, but some bits are funny. That bit with him shouting DAN! was just what our dog was like when we got him. He'd deliberately ignore you, even though we knew very well he could hear us. He's much better now though, after 18 months training.

Tom.

:) Glad about that...we had two dogs...one called Alice Zappa and the other Square Root...great big hugs...

If you take the first letter and place it at hte end of the word, and then spell the word backwards, it will be the same word.

Cheers!

I just couldn't sleep. Different today though - I didn't wake up until gone 9.

That was early for a walk! I bet you did not meet a lot of people at that early hour?

I like the photos, especially the first two - and the cute dog of course!

I didn't meet even a single person, although I did hear a car in the distance at about 5:30. I saw the first train of the morning go past too.

What amazing photos - worth being up at 4 am to see the sky and light looking so wonderful.

Dan would not mind the early hour of waking - "2 hours of walkies or more sleep?" No contest for our doggie friends!

Haha, you're right - the walkies was most pleasurable for him. Which reminds me, I'd better go do that now. I was up late this morning, not surprisingly.

Cheers, Tom.

Fantastic pictures, is that really what Aberystwyth looks like?

Thanks. That's actually Borth, which is about 5 miles North of Aberystwyth.

Belting pics, cracking dog and a lovely area to live in. You're a very lucky chappie. I love west-facing coasts.

Thanks, I am lucky. I agree about facing West too - we get sunsets over the sea.
