Helen and I went to see Hayseed Dixie in concert last night, and it was excellent. 4 great musicians at the top of their game playing exciting music that makes people feel happy. I highly recommend them if they come near you, and they seem to be almost continuously on tour.
In case you don’t know, they started as an AC/DC covers band, but doing all of the songs in a fast tempo bluegrass style using acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, mandolin, violin and banjo. They later expanded their repertoire to include Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Motorhead, Queen, KISS, Scissor Sisters, Green Day and a few others. They also include considerable numbers of their own tunes now as well. The crowd went mad when they played Ace of Spades. This is them:

The concerts have rather the feel of a hoedown, with people dancing and whooping throughout. Great fun. Interestingly, they allow the audience to take pictures and films, but of course I didn’t take my camera. Silly me.
The above picture is from yesterday. For much of the day there was a totally dark sky but with the sun peeping through and the light was really peculiar.
Cheers, Tom.
