This very old “white spiritual” became popular with American Country Music artists in the 1940s and has been recorded by many people over the years. It’s part of the Country Canon. The bright land is supposed to be heaven of course, but I think of it as being the seaside. No matter how dark the clouds might look, a patch of sunlight will stick it’s head out for a nose around before popping himself back again.

I listened to the Tennessee Ernie Ford version and he's got a lovely deep smooth voice, but I actually like your version better because it was more gravelly and sounded like the voice of somebody who would have originally sung this song...if that makes sense...
