I have a very full day of studenting today. I have a solid 7 hours without break from 9 until 4. I know, boohoo! 4 hours of B&W film photography, 2 hours of film studies and one hour of “key skills”.
The film studies is a continuation of the session I had yesterday afternoon, during which we had to watch the film Superbad. We will be discussing the film in some detail this morning. It’s tempting for me to say things like “The film is well-named” and “That should be a short discussion then”, but I’ll refrain from such cheap-shots. Gross-out teen comedies aren’t my favourite genre, but I watched it with an open mind and it was undeniably funny in places. But, the story is incredibly simple and whilst there was some humour, there wasn’t sufficient to make me think too highly of it. Plus, it’s about as obvious as a sledgehammer to the head. This is Superbad:

I’ve been practicing with B&W on my digital camera again, as you can see from the above two pictures. None of my B&W efforts are really very satisfactory and I suspect that digitals are just poor at this in comparison to genuine film. It’s my intention to try and post some of my film efforts here later, but of course I’ll have to digitize them first, resulting in loss of quality. *sigh*
Cheers, Tom.
