Last night, I posted a link to Eva Cassidy’s fairly famous live version of Autumn Leaves in which she accompanies herself on guitar. It’s a hallmark of a great song that it can be done in many different arrangements, instrumentations and ways, so here are just three more from the literally hundreds of recorded versions that are available:

The falling leaves drift by my window
The falling leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sunburned hands I used to hold
Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I'll hear old winter's song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall

The music was originally written by Joseph Kosma (who wrote the music for a few classic French films) in 1945, and is both a jazz and a pop standard. Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf and Miles Davis are all famous for it, and recently Paolo Nuttini and Diana Krall have both recorded it.
Cheers, Tom.
