I have a “new patient check-up” at the doctor’s in half an hour. It’s just typical of me to have been living somewhere for heading for a year and not be registered with a doctor yet, but that’s fixed now. He/she will probably tell me to lose some weight, and I’ll be telling him/her that I wheeze a lot and seem to have got back the asthma I last had 10 years ago.
Very much on the plus side, we don’t pay prescription charges in Wales. How cool is that?

Pro Yeah, it's great innit? The Welsh Assembly are responsible for eliminating the prescription charges :-)

Pro Once when I had a minor op I got given medication. They sent an invoice! cheek of some people!

Pro A friend of mine was once knocked off his motorcycle by a hit and run driver. I phoned the ambulance for him from a callbox (yes, it was that long ago). He later got invoiced for the ambulance. There should be a law against that!

Pro He had to pay in the end, although he resisted for a while. It was going to court, and he would have lost.

Pro That was the law at the time, but I don't know if it still is. They were required to send a bill for ambulances sent to RTA's and on this occasion there was no-one else to send the bill to.

NI contributions are a thinly disguised way to put up the base tax rate quite a bit without us noticing. I don't think they've been hypothecated for the NHS/pensions for many years - and we are paying for pensions out of current tax take rather than the past income. Hence the panic about increasing numbers of pensioners and fewer working-age tax-payers.

So the doctor took you on as a new patient? Over here, doctors are scarce and they interview you to see if they want to take you on as a new patient. Cheeky buggers.

Ah my friend, the doctor would consider a person with multiple health challenges too time consuming and may pass on having you as a patient. And yes, it is awful.

Pro Think a lot of us are wheezing again for no apparent reason...very strange...sometimes I think it's all the dust and chemicals and garbage being added to the atmosphere with all the bombs being let off around the world....Iraq and Afghanistan are daily while other huge ones like the one in Pakistan recently must all go up into the air and get dispersed by the winds...

Pro We've had really orange sunsets for the last few days (when they've been visible) for some reason. Something to do with the amount of moisture in the air.

My son paid for his very first own prescription the other day(i made the doctor's appointment)lol. Now we have to see if the tablets lie in his room and decay or if he actually takes them. Maybe he has matured!?Maybe i should throw him out with all his decaying debris with him?
