Sometimes, an idea just works. Yesterday afternoon I was popping to the local shop and as usual my trusty compact digital camera was in my pocket. The sun was bright and the light sharp and I just looked down the street and thought "this would look good in Black and White". And I think it does. For reasons I find hard to explain, I am pleased with this photograph of Borth High Street.
I'm a bit of an ebay addict, and the day before yesterday I was outbid with 4 seconds to go on a postcard of pretty much exactly this view, from the same position, but from 1924. Someone paid £5.49 plus postage for it. It was particularly interesting as the sea wall was absent, and my house (out of shot to the right) hadn't been built yet. I suspect another local bought it. Perhaps I'll see it in their house one day.
Cheers, Tom.
