I've been doing that indoors, but I wanted completely natural compositions on the beach. Good idea though and I'll probably end up doing that if we don't get some sunshine soon...

I agree, shades of grey can be very interesting if care is taken. A strong black, a pure white and variation of tones in-between and all is right with the world (as long as it's interesting subject matter).

Oooh, that is rather melancholy, isn't it? Maybe you can arrange the stones to say, "Misery."

Everything grey until colour TVs? WW2 was fought in black and white and various shades of grey.
Bill & Ben and Rolf Harris were grey. Even the orange ball in the World Cup Final was grey.
However, as much as I try, I can't appreciate B & W arty images. I'll look forward to your next colour photo.

Fine, thanks. The weather is nice here and we intend to walk on the beach in the evenings, which means pictures from the sea ( I love the sea), etc.

Ah Tom, I believe this is a case when 'creativity' is the required process.
I've always understood that to mean CHEATING.
Why not 'create' in a still life way. Bit of sand, some seaweed, odd rock/shell/pebble/flotsam and Bob's your uncle.
Bugger the inclement weather.
