The friends and barbecues sound good :-)
It rains more in summer than in winter in the UK, apparently.

Sorry, but that comment has gone WOOSH right over my head!

If you look at your photograph as BUT an image you may be able to see that, given a certain amount of squinting, commes les impressionists, you can get, a souffle effect with the whites being the clouds and the base being your grassland. Apologies for obfuscation.

Thanks for explaining. I don't think I have ever had a Souffle which is why I didn't get what you were saying.

I lived in Florida when I was small (before Georgia). When someone mentions summer I immediately picture how everything was so green and warm and humid and windy. The air smelled like citrus and the only paved road in town was a highway two miles away. Because of the climate in places where it's not all pavement the flora and fauna in Florida go wild. Really wild and pretty!

Those are lovely memories, and exactly the sort of thing I was hoping people would relate :-)
Everyone I know who has been to Florida says it's lovely. Perhaps I'll make it there myself one day.

Gorgeous picture -I wrote a poem about summer as a child which i may post later -for me summer conjures up memories from childhood, especially the smell of new mown grass, honeysuckle flowers, we would pick them and suck the sweet sticky substance from them, picking blackberries and getting covered in purple juice, walking through the welsh farmlands of Abergavenny with my much loved aunt and uncle, typical country stuff, ,my uncle would go shooting rabbits, and eat them I may add, not for fun, he also caught freshwater eels to eat, I also used to go up to the field above their cottage with a basket and pick the wild mushrooms and fill the basket up with them with my sister for my uncles breakfast, loved the smell but hated mushrooms as a kid, cows remind me of summer, the smell of manure rmeinds me of summer, building hay houses and being chased by the farmer! Hiding out in a den we built over a dry ditch, sitting on the porch of my grandads old pub eating cheese and onion crisps and drinking shandy..bliss!! Oh yes and eating condensed milk straight off a spoon, something my mum would never let me do so only in the summmer did i have this treat

Those are brilliant memories. Thank you very much for sharing them. I did the hay house thing too.

You notice it revolves a lot around food

I did :-)
It would have been lemonade and salt and vinegar crisps for me...

that's a lovely picture. Long walks with the dogs when they were younger is the first thing that came to mind. (bless my dear Jasper, it is two years since he died as of tommorow)

I had some lovely long walks with my dogs this summer. I have done this winter too, actually. Sorry to hear about your Jasper. We get very attached to our animal friends, don't we?
