We may have to succumb soon. We were hoping to make it until the end of October, but that's looking unlikely at the moment...

Brrr! Our first frost came in late August, everyone who's native to my parts, suspects it may be an early, long and throughly unpleasant winter. Hope yours proves to be a short one!
It's sea scenes like yours, that make me sometimes wish I lived near an ocean. As always, very nice, Tom!-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:20:15
Thanks Nancy. Your first frost in late August! My, perhaps we are in for a bitter winter then!
-
- 08/10/09 @ 09:13:38
Thats a very fitting picture... it actually made me shiver a little.
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:20:35
No more swimming this year now...
-
- 08/10/09 @ 09:59:36

-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:21:51
Brrr, that's no good...
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:25:48
Ours has been on for ages but this weekend we are giving in and also lighting the log fire - it is so cold at night, it also makes the sitting room lovely and cosy. You have done well to hold out this long x
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:32:49
Fires are lovely - I'm jealous!
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:27:42
Lovely pictures, there is a phrase in German He is like a firm as a rock. I think about it, when I see this pic. I turned the heating on for two days, because of my cold. Now it is warm, 24 degrees, but tomorrow the weather will change, only 12 degrees.
Have a nice day!-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:33:54
We would say "as solid as a rock". It's about 5C outside, but 14C here in my studio.
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:36:43
Thank you. the dictionary translate it false. Oh that is pretty cold, but it is October. 14 degrees is also too cold. I have my window open, Sando is watching the birds and people put shorts.
-
- 08/10/09 @ 10:49:27
I have no heat in my flat at the moment. And it's pretty damn cold I have to tell you!
-
- 08/10/09 @ 11:30:12
Brrr, Swedish cold!
-
- 08/10/09 @ 11:04:33
Ours has been on for a few weeks now. We have had it almost to freezing on a few nights.
-
- 08/10/09 @ 11:31:08
We're going to have to get out the extra blanket pile, I think!
-
- 08/10/09 @ 12:08:22
I think you could be right. It looks set to be a cold winter. -
- 08/10/09 @ 13:25:28
I agree, it does. Apparently they had frost in New York State in America at the end of August!

The water looks cold! We have had the heating on for a couple of weeks now. Brrrr! Have a great Thursday. x

Thanks, I certainly won't be swimming again this year! Have a great day yourself.
Tom.

ooer, we've had the heating for a short time over September when the temp dropped below 15 degrees in the house...
Only for a short time it's true but today is much, much chillier...still warm in the sun...
Have a good day and love the rock formation...looks like a badly made sliced loaf...LOL...GBHs...XXX-
- 08/10/09 @ 13:12:32
We're still planning to hang on until the start of November if we can. It cost us a fortune heating this house last winter.
-

- 08/10/09 @ 15:04:10
same here...frightening isn't it now!...even with OAP's fuel assistance, it still costs us an arm and a leg every month...hmmm...threatening to put it up next year too these wretched gas and electric companies...
( GBHs...XXX-
- 08/10/09 @ 15:13:30
Our electricity bill last year (we have no gas) was about the same as our Council tax. There is something wrong with that!
-
- http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk
- 08/10/09 @ 19:39:52
hmmm...If ours was as low as that, we'd be laughing...lucky you!! Or is that the council tax for the year?...GBHs...XXX
-
- 08/10/09 @ 20:12:18
For the whole year. Our annual council tax and electric are over a grand each.
-
- http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk
- 08/10/09 @ 23:03:49
so are ours...bloody disgusting!! We're being robbed left, right and centre now...hmmm...GBHs...XXX

I agree, this seems like such a monumental rip-off. Part of the Thatcher legacy.

'fraid so, Tom...she put Britain on the market and sold it off bit by bit and now we're paying the new owners...which used to be us...hmmm...grrrrrhhh...GBHs...XXX

Guilty, the last two nights iv put mine on for just a few hours.
-
- 08/10/09 @ 19:24:43
You've probably had the same weather we did. Looks like it might be a warmer night tonight as it's clouded over a bit...
-
- 09/10/09 @ 15:11:42
rainy weekend ahead again by the looks of it.

Gosh, you really have struck winter early this year! -10 in early October sounds dreadful! How cold does it get where you are at the peak of winter? You're in Southern Canada aren't you?

dear Tom:
yes, this is extremely unusually cold weather for october. hells bells, my Owner and i live in the warm part of alberta, where w/We get warm chinook winds coming out of the united states of america, off o/Our canadian rocky mountains. calgary gets to minus 35 celsius in the heart of winter, but only for a few days, or a week at maximum. generally those temperatures are found 300 kilometers to o/Our north in edmonton. they don't get the chinook winds and their minus 35 celsius can last for 2-3 weeks at a time. o/Our average winter weather generally ranges between minus 10 to 20 celsius with chinook winds almost weekly, or every other week. w/We live in the more blessed part of arctic cold canada.

dear Tom:
it is a different bird indeed, that can adjust to o/Our temperature extremes. these temps run a close second, to those that would be expected in a nuclear winter i swear. all i can say is brrrrrrrr !!! Mistress Trin has the right idea with Her fuzzy arctic cap She posted early on today.
i am so envious of Your overall temperatures, the stirring ocean water, and the calming isolation, that surrounds You their in shangri-la.

We've had heat on for several days now. Burr was -10C with 2 inches of snow down when I got up this morning. I'm grateful we have an abundance of wood and a woodstove as our first choice of heat. However here in northern Alberta, we are hooked into natural gas. Many blessings!
-
- 09/10/09 @ 09:11:24
Ouch, -10C is very cold! We used to have a wood burning stove in our old house and it was really nice to sit by it!
