The mind works in mysterious ways. When sorting through my pictures to make deletions last night (Woohoo now down to 4500!!), I found the above picture of a pigeon that I took in a small square in London earlier this year. My mind immediately flashed to Tom Lehrer's song "Poisoning pigeons in the park" which I haven't heard for about 20 years or so.
A neural link took me from an image of the pigeon to this song:

Pro Tom Lehrer was a very clever lyricist, but I'd have to agree that musically this is pretty light-weight stuff.

I think that I do not know him and his songs. Time is changing, they had a hard life after 2 WW and artists wanted to entertain people. I think this music tells us the life stories in these years.

I'm a Taurus so I always think of food. Why poison pigeons when you can possibly make a pigeon pie out of them?
Having said that when we vacation yearly in Hawaii, one thing I look forward to is the gentle coo of the pigeons that we feed from our balcony. Soothing calming cooing sounds!

Missed this posting first time around. Very pretty pigeon. Unfortunately missing a bit in the foot region but this appears to be the norm with London versions. Brilliant clip. I often sing this song at full volume when motorcycling through the back lanes. It's a belter.

The music in the early 50 or 60 ies are very superficial, but nice. I have never heard this song. I saw lots of beautiful pigeons in N.Z. wonderful animals. We do not like (I like it) it usual pigeons. The can life over 20 years.
