Sigur Ros - Heima

Helen and I watched Heima last night. It’s a documentary about the 2006 homecoming concert tour by the ethereal Icelandic post-Rock band Sigur Ros. It’s a stunningly beautiful film that shows Iceland off tremendously well and gives a great insight into the band. I strongly recommend it to anyone, whether you like the music or not.

I honestly can’t recommend this highly enough. It looks amazing, sounds amazing. Absolutely mesmerizing.

Their music is sometimes quiet and acoustic, and sometimes builds to blistering crescendos, but it always remains melodic and intimate. Here is the trailer for the film:

    I have no dvd player. On TV is every day an interesting film or documentary, I had a video player but I watched very seldom video films, so I decide not to buy a dvd player, maybe in the next years.

Astrid, although born in Java and raised in Holland prefers cold climes & has always wanted to go to Iceland or Norway. One day we might, in the summer of course.

  I once paid a brief visit to both Finland and Sweden and they were very beautiful. I'd like to spend some time travelling round them again and also Iceland and Norway. Cost is prohibitive though - we are hard up and they are all expensive countries to visit!

  Their music seems to be very tied to their love of their Icelandic home and I think that comes across very clearly.

That is beautiful. Iv been a fan of the band for a number of years (introduced to the uk by Radiohead by the way). Iv never seen this film but will check it out.

If you get the chance do go see this band live, they really are truly amazing. One i will never forget.

As for Iceland, its always been high on my must do list. I want to see the Northan lights, dive naked inot one of those hot geezas, take a whale watching trip out on the ocean and finaly end the holiday clubbing in Rejyavic (spelling) club capital of the world they say (but of course a more classy kind of clubbing than the Ibiza type and more ambient than dance).

Funny you post this today, i fell asleep last night listening to Sigur Ros's latest album, im not going to attempt to spell it but you know the one with nekid people running through the grass on the front cover?

Loving the band pic's man. Some real good stylizing going on in each shot. I've done some band photography/Video myself with my friends. I'll try get them up on my blog in next week. Can check them out and leave us some feedback
