Gosh I don't know now, I am going for greenfinch on account of the fact that willowwarblers have a sort of highlighter yellow necklace, don't know how else to describe it.

We have several bird identification books but I just don't seem to have the eye for detail.

I'm pretty sure it could tell I was watching. I took several through the glass door but as soon as I turned the handle it was off!

Aww, the Robins and Bluetits are gorgeous.

I think the fish-eaters might be Herons? Really big buggers.

I would have guessed...greenfinch...though I admit to being 'colour-blinf when it comes to shades of green/red/brown.....:))

That`s a beauty of a bird Tom.

I get excited when i see anything out of the norm birdwise as all we seem to get round here is pigeons and magpies - so when i see a robin or a little blue tit it sets me up for the day!

Although i remember seeing a woodpecker in my mum`s garden, which was amazing and i`ve seen one of those huge big things that eat fish out of peoples gardens ponds......? :)

I think you're right, it probably is something like that. Get fascinated with something as a child and then pursue it for the rest of your life with ever-increasing levels of knowledge. I've been like that with music.

I never really understood the concept of bird watching and why people found it so exciting. That was until a few Christmas's ago when my little brother spotted a little red breasted robin in our garden. He was so excited about seeing this bird and looked out the window for over an hour watching this little bird play in our garden.

And it got me thinking, Was I ever that excited about seeing birds when I was his age? And maybe that's it. Maybe the reason these people get excited about birds maybe reverts back to times in there childhood.

Or maybe not at all.... But its a good concept, don't you think?

WOW!! Scary but wonderful ... wild water is hypnotic and from time to time people do get too close and get washed away. Wear a lfeline attached to the balcony!!
